Good results in the first round of the Mathematics Olympiad 2024

On Wednesday, January 31, 21 students from S2 up to and including S6 participated in the first round of the Dutch Mathematics Olympiad for the 6th since 2018. Every year the students crack their brains on eight multiple choice questions and four open questions for two hours. Every participating student had at least one question right, an already outstanding performance, and now for the 5th time in a row, some ESB students will go the second round!

Illia (S5E) managed to get 27 points (out of 36) and did really well nationally. He only needed 18 points to go to the second round so he had 50% more than was needed! He had a higher score than 97% of the other participants in his year group (2136 participants)!

Suban (S4E) became second in the school and had another outstanding score! With this score he belongs to the best 15% of the country on his level.

The second round will take place on March 15, 2024, at a university in the Netherlands.

We wish Illia and Suban the best of luck!
