Il progetto sulla mitologia è stato concepito come un progetto interdisciplinare per insegnanti e studenti SWALS (Students Without A Language Section) delle classi S1/S2 L1 di greco, ungherese, italiano, lituano e spagnolo per migliorare le competenze della lingua madre, apprendere la lingua nel contesto e aumentare la consapevolezza del carattere europeo della nostra scuola e delle nostre comuni radici culturali.
Il progetto ruota attorno al libro Percy Jackson e il ladro di fulmini scritto da Rick Riordan. Il romanzo offre agli studenti un’ottima occasione per esplorare l’eredità classica della cultura greca applicata alla civiltà contemporanea e per individuarne le radici culturali comuni; analizzare gli elementi del “viaggio dell’eroe” attraverso un’’ ambientazione moderna, con un narratore in prima persona con il quale possono facilmente identificarsi e discutere argomenti importanti come i disturbi dell’apprendimento o il concetto di famiglia, o temi come la lealtà, l’amicizia e e la fede.
The project on mythology was conceived as a SWALS cross-curricular project for teachers and students of the S1/S2 L1 Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Lihuanian and Spanish classes to improve the mother tongue competences, learn language in a context and enhance the awareness of the European character of our school and our common cultural root. The project goes around the book Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief written by Rick Riordan.
The novel offers students an excellent opportunity to explore the classical heritage of Greek culture applied to contemporary civilization and to identify the common cultural roots; to analyze the elements of “hero’s journey” set in a modern story, with a first-person narrator with which they can easily be identified and to discuss important topics such as learning disabilities or the concept of family, or themes such as loyalty, friendship and faith.
